Basset-Toronto Based Folk Duo
Toronto-based folk duo, Basset, are full of timeless heart. Acoustic songwriters Sam Clark and Yasmine Shelton will take you through city streets in the hours before the world has woken, or to a corrugated steel home north of the treeline.
Basset bring a deep love of the natural world to their gorgeously meditative and assured debut album, In The Clay (September 2022).
Produced by Joshua Van Tassel (Sarah Slean, David Myles), In The Clay explore themes of life in change, Shelton and Clark’s travels around Northern Ontario, the Canadian and American prairies, their lives in Toronto, and the many characters who have crossed their paths. With comparisons to The Milk Carton Kids, Hozier
and Bon Iver, their inventiveness shines on fiddle and intricate harmonies, with Shelton and Clark’s voices wrapping around each other like twin flames in a warm fire.
"If you’re a lover of like great close harmonies, like Simon and Garfunkel, or Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, I think you’re going to love this" - CBC Radio

ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER:
LEFT WING ECONOMIC ESTABLISHMENT TOUR 2023
Thanks to Oxy Moron Liz Truss for the tour name. Attila the Stockbroker, is, obviously, the leader of the Left Wing Economic Establishment. The difference of course being that Attila the Stockbroker is a silly stage name (his real name’s John) and Truss actually believes the Left Wing Economic Establishment exists!
Punk poet, latterly dub poet, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Attila the Stockbroker exploded into public consciousness in 1982-3 via two John Peel sessions and a Melody Maker front cover and is now celebrating over forty years earning a living doing what he loves. So far: nearly 4000 gigs in 24 countries, some 20 CD/s LPs, eight books of poems, his autobiography ‘Arguments Yard’ (Cherry Red Books, 2015) and his collected works ‘Heart on my Sleeve’ (2021) His latest album, just out and endorsed by his old friend Ben Zephaniah, is a dub poetry collection ’40 Years In Rhyme’ with rhythms from Kingsley Salmon and What’s Left Dub, and his previous one, 2018’s ‘Restoration Tragedy’ combines early music and punk – a lifelong ambition – with tales of the English Revolution of 1649.
Attila’s current performance comprises spoken word, dub poetry, acoustic songs and a bit of early music on ancient instruments. He really doesn’t sound like anything else. And his material is very, very up to date.
An output best described as genre fluid.

Saturday 29th October 2022
Saturday 22nd October 2022
As heard on BBC Radio
Introducing singer songwriters Tim Chu and Ian Bailey performing “A Celebration of Simon & Garfunkel- The UK’s leading non tribute show”. Touring for many years now the show continues to receive great reviews in a variety of venues for performing respectful interpretations and arrangements that will take you back down memory lane.
The concert attracts old fans and new and continues to support the arts in rural communities.
Tim Chu has been a professional session musician for many years and his music features in TV, Film and Radio. He has loved the music of Paul Simon from a young age as the original LPs were constantly on the record player! Tim had the vision to put together an ambient show to take to real music lovers around the UK and enrolled the help of Lancashire born Ian Bailey to complete the duo. Ian has been a singer songwriter releasing his own music to critical acclaim for most of his professional career.
Together they blend in their own unique way without falling into the tribute act category. There will be no make-up, wigs or costumes - Just two great musicians performing some of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic songs in an intimate and relaxed way.
“Everyone loves the music of Simon & Garfunkel and for me no one has recreated it better than Tim and Ian, the concert simply blew me away" Phil Cool, TV comedian, impressionist and musician...
‘If you only get to one concert this year, make sure it’s this one” Glastonbury Radio
“What a fantastic show with two great guys, two voices and two guitars delivering the best acoustic interpretations of Simon’s classic songs” Sally Naden, BBC Radio.

Evie Ladin & Keith Terry (USA)
Dynamic American roots music and dance
Evie Ladin and Keith Terry perform a hugely entertaining mix of Appalachian roots music, step dance and body percussion. Multi-talented singer, songwriter, clawhammer banjo player and
step dancer Evie Ladin grew up surrounded by traditional music.
Playing banjo from the age of 8 and clogging since she was just 5, Evie is steeped in traditional Appalachian music and dance, but also brings a contemporary vision to her music. A sensational live performer, Evie is a 2020 Jubilation Fellowship recipient, awarded to artists with an exceptional talent for bringing joy to people through music and movement. Versatile musician
and dancer Keith Terry originally trained as a jazz drummer, and takes care of percussive duties on double bass and percussion, as well as joining Evie in dance elements of the duo’s performances. Founder of the International Body Music Festival and a skilled proponent of the
art of body percussion, Keith has performed and taught at prestigious venues across the world. Evie and Keith met on the dance floor, and they live a double life between the folk/Americana circuit and the body music scene they helped create – both elements are beautifully integrated into their live show.
“You don’t often hear words like “traditional” and “authentic” paired with “innovative”
and “unique” but Evie Ladin & Keith Terry have brought them together brilliantly.

Jacaranda
A new play by Lorna French
A Pentabus & Theatre by the Lake co-production.
'Sometimes it feels so exposing just walking in the village.
I told Jimmy to ignore it at first, he tried to, but it’s isolating he said, eyes on you, not a word spoken.
Even when you meet their eyes they don’t look away. Like they have a right to,
like you’re a spectacle, an object.’
Olivia has recently moved into her great uncle’s farmhouse. She’s not local, but she knows her way around. Matty is a gamekeeper, but he doesn’t often tell anyone.
He’s wary of newcomers.
These unlikely strangers find themselves beside a stream on the longest night of the year.
Pentabus and Theatre by the Lake present a brilliant new drama from award-winning playwright Lorna French which explores loss, love, prejudice, race and belonging.
Trigger Warning:
The play includes descriptions of pregnancy and child loss that could possibly be upsetting or triggering for anyone who has been affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

The Tale of Little Bevan
by Robert Alan Evans
In a peaceful Norfolk village, three people are seeking happiness. But as the harvest moon fills and the party begins, ancient forces are brought to life. While Tony and Mike get trapped in the tunnels below the village, Gill’s plan for revenge turns sour.
A darkly comic journey through 24 hours in the life of a village called Little Bevan, this new play by Robert Alan Evans promises live music, storytelling and the spirit of a 10th-century saint.
The Tale of Little Bevan has been created in collaboration with village hall promoters and rural communities across Norfolk and Suffolk - listening to their experiences, thoughts and concerns about living in rural villages in the twenty-first century.
‘We’re thrilled to be working with village hall promoters across Norfolk and Suffolk, in collaboration with Robert Alan Evans. Rob has listened, explored and responded to village life in East Anglia with this, funny and engaging romp of a play, exploring loneliness, community and the penchant for mystery evident in many rural communities.’

THE BIG BANG GANG
SARAJEVO BIG BANG
In 1914 Gavrilio Princip killed Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. Through stories, songs and a crazy cabaret, follow a cast of characters on a surprising journey through power struggles and secret machinations and understand just how we are all connected to the gunshot that started “The Great War." Maria is a professional storyteller and artist; Staffan a writer of books and plays who brings to life the historical background of the shot and its aftermath, while Eva is a singer, actress and dramatist. These talented Swedish performers take turns in pushing the story forwards, while tension mounts. Feel the magic! “Many thanks for a super theatre experience that was insightful, intimate and full of surprises” audience feedback.

Crossings
Crossings
Pentabus and New Perspectives collaborate for the first time to present a new play by Edinburgh Fringe First winning playwright Deirdre Kinahan, to mark the centenary of the end of World War I.
In 1919, Badgersbridge Village Hall is Margaret’s domain and the last place she expected to come face to face with Grace; who knew and loved Margaret's brother. Through this chance meeting their two lives collide resulting in an unlikely pairing that will change the course of both of their futures
Fast forward to 2019. Sean can't find his mother to meet Mirjana from the care company, here to help her stay in her own home. Mirjana is from Sarajevo, but has lived in the village since escaping the war there as a teenager. The village hall has been her solace and proves an unlikely link between them.
With live music, waltzing and unexpected connections, two actors will dance you through a century exploring how we return, resettle and adapt.
Pentabus and New Perspectives are thrilled to announce our cast: Victoria Brazier whose recent works include The Secret Garden (York Theatre Royal and Theatre by the Lake) Hard Times (Northern Broadsides) and Three Mothers (Waterloo East) and Will O’Connell whose recent theatre includes Class (Traverse Theatre, Galway Arts Festival, Abbey Theatre, Dublin Theatre Festival), Swansong (Kilkenny Arts Festival) and Luck Just Kissed You Hello (HotForTheatre/GIAF/Dublin Theatre Festival). Your Bard -
written and performedby Nicholas Collett
(additional material by William Shakespeare).
Saturday 7th April
Professor Nother is giving a talk about Shakespeare authorship in the function room at the Shakespeare pub – but he doesn’t believe the man from Stratford wrote those plays. That’s Will’s cue to kick the door off the hinges and defend his reputation. Come and meet the man himself and take the lid off a legend in your local. He’ll tell you all about his family, what it’s like on tour and the glory days at the Globe. Queen Elizabeth I, Christopher Marlowe and Ned Alleyn – you’ll meet them too. Intermingled with a few of his greatest hits - and maybe a sonnet or a song.
There’s no fourth wall here – we’re all in this together!!

Just how much WILD are YOU comfortable with?
One extraordinary day in an average British village.
Someone has seen a wolf. Where did they come from? Someone must be able to do something about them. Otherwise, how will our children get to school? And how will we all get to line dancing in the village hall?
This new play from Olivier-nominated playwright Joel Horwood explores just how much wild we’re comfortable with. If you re-introduce a species, can you ever go back?
Writer Joel Horwood said: I grew up dancing at birthday parties, attending wakes and watching plays in village halls. Pentabus have always made challenging and engaging work for these spaces and audiences and I am delighted to be a part of this latest venture. At a time of such political division, it is essential that we find ways to speak to one another deeply; Pentabus have always aimed to do this through their choices of subject matter and their touring ambitions.
Pentabus are thrilled to announce our cast: Helena Lymbery whose recent works includes Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – Parts 1 and 2 at Palace Theatre , Treasure Island and This House at the National Theatre and Stacey Evans whose recent works includes Kids in Love for Ealing Studios and Seat 25, Winner of Best British Film at the London Film Awards. Stacey and Helena will perform multiple roles as they summon into being one extraordinary day in an average British village. The audience are invited on an entertaining imaginative journey, as community spirit overcomes fear.
Directed by Artistic Director Sophie Motley, designed by Carla Goodman, lighting designed by Azusa Ono with Movement Direction from Kitty Winter.
Artistic Director Sophie Motley said: Joel’s brilliant play utterly captures how the wild outside can frighten, delight and ultimately coalesce a rural community. His observations are beautiful; intricate characters ageing from 11 to 80 are portrayed with great depth, dexterity and a wry smile. I feel privileged to make my Pentabus directing debut with this play.

Drawing in Shropshire's second meet-up.
"Drawing in Shropshire – Social gatherings with a twist:
Chat with friends, meet like-minded people and enjoy a drink or two, whilst experiencing drawing, not as a means of creating an artwork or a design, but purely as a fun recreational activity in its own right.
Come along to take part in silly games, inventive exercises and quirky challenges.
Drawing in Shropshire was begun by local artist Sam Brett-Atkin.
Monthly meet-ups take place in different venues around the county.
Pens, pencils and paper are provided, but it's recommended that attendees also bring their own."
Thanks to Jackie Cooley for suggesting Quatt Village Hall for this meet-up's venue.
Refreshments will be available to purchase on the evening.
There are more spaces available this time and I am really looking forward to a bigger gathering.
Starts at 7pm until 9pm

Hickman and Cassidy
Quatt Village Hall are excited to announce the return of this hugely popular duo. Hickman’s emotive, soaring vocals and driving guitar is complemented by Cassidy’s ingenious and virtuosic fiddling. Their sound flows from the connection between British and American folk and is bursting with all the humour, heartbreak and excitement of these genres. The lively English wit of Hickman is set against Cassidy’s bone-dry irony and American drawl as they take audiences on a dynamic and unforgettable transatlantic journey.

Paradise Lost (Lies Unopened Beside Me) by Lost Dog,
supported by Arts Alive.
A one man staging of Milton’s epic Paradise Lost and not like whatever came into your head when you read the first bit of that sentence. Combining theatre, comedy and movement this is a journey through the story of the creation of everything condensed into 75 minutes. A show which brings you the highlights of this well known but often forgotten story beginning with Lucifer’s rebellion and ending with Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the garden of Eden. A single man plays all the characters, creates all the scenes and, despite his best efforts, falls a little short of perfection. A show for anyone who has created anything (child, garden, paper aeroplane) and then watched it spiral out of control.

Here I Belong
Presented by
Pentabus Rural Theatre Company.
Here I Belong is a sensitive, charming and honest portrayal about changing village life and the right to grow old in your own home. You'll meet Elsie. It's her 90th birthday and you're invited to the village hall to celebrate.
Two actors tell Elsie’s story over four scenes. The first is set in 1953, as she decorates her village hall in preparation for the coronation party. The second in 1979, on the eve of the general election. Then after the interval it’s 1996 and the hall turns into the venue for a wake for a valued village resident. And the final scene is set, as she asks the village to come together to celebrate her 90th birthday.

My Big Fat Cowpat Wedding
by Sayan Kent
You are invited to join the guests at Clare and Arjun’s wedding reception. It’s a celebration of a mixed marriage between a country girl and a lad from the city, with all their friends and family. What could possibly go wrong?
This fast moving comedy drama is full of mishaps and misunderstandings with plenty of neat twists and a disco/ Bhangra dance for everyone to join in at the end.
Everyone loves a wedding don’t they?
Dress: Smart casual. Hats welcome. Wellington boots optional.
Based on real people’s experience of mixed marriages or rural weddings attended by city dwellers out of their comfort zone, this is a fun, light hearted exploration of relationships across the divides of rural/urban, race and gender.
A co-production between Kali Theatre/Black Country Touring/Arts Alive.
Directed by Janet Steel and Steve Johnstone
Whalebone
Saturday 10th September
Whalebone’s current favourite quote about themselves is this: “a happy trio who laugh in the face of danger and take the folk idiom by the scruff of the neck” (Instrumentali Musicali, July 2013). It points straight to the fun and the energy they find playing together, and the fact that whilst they might have started out being labelled as a folk trio (mostly because of the instruments they play) the true position these days is far richer and more complicated.
Whalebone are a trio, playing acoustic guitars and fiddle (plus a few other bits and pieces when the mood takes them – their latest album features an eight-string baritone guitar, mandolin, cello and many and various bits of percussion).
They have fans with a diverse array of musical tastes, who can all find something to enjoy amidst the fiery and emotive original material, supercharged renditions of traditional music and wild re-workings of rock guitar classics played with dazzling virtuosity (and a violin).

Chip Shop Chips
A new play by Becky Prestwich
supported by ArtAlive.
“She's not going anywhere yet. Even if it's just for tonight - he won't unwish it. They can have now. And then years after, they'll still get a shiver from the memories.”
It’s the grand reopening of Booth and Son’s Fish & Chip Shop. Eric has returned home, over forty years after he left, and it’s time for a fresh start. But old flame Christine has other ideas. Transported back to a time of chippy teas and Northern Soul, there’s unfinished business for these old lovers. Watching teenage love stumble as hapless Lee make a pass at the beautiful Jasmine, is it all just history repeating?
Focusing on love at different ages and celebrating the nation’s favourite food, Chip Shop Chips is an immersive love story set in a chippy performing in unusual spaces across the North. So put on your dancing shoes, tuck into a fish supper and brace yourself for a unique theatrical experience. This is theatre, but not as you know it: dinner, dance and a show all rolled into one!
“A smooth and powerful production”
★★★★★ What’s On Stage (on Prestwich's 'Letting in Air')

Avanti Artizani in 6 Impossible Things
Coming from ARTS ALIVE Two experienced performers of great skill and charm present the show in a relaxed cabaret style - think Morecambe and Wise in front of the curtains. The show features a revolving stage, conjuring, acrobatics, live music, sound effects, animatronics, sophisticated lighting - and also includes a most memorable and spectacular finale. It's the story of the Three Grimshaws, a variety act at the top of their game, just after a disastrous show in Grimsby. Whatever happened to Maureen Grimshaw and whichever version you choose to believe, the act was never the same….. That’s the thing about love triangles: they rarely end well for all concerned. So the Grimshaw brothers carry on, hiding their regrets, their secrets and their guilt, after all the show must go on!

Nelson :
The Sailors' story.
Amidst the smoke and din of battle, a surgeon, a midshipman, a gunner and a powder monkey aboard HMS Victory strive to destroy the combined fleets of France and Spain. Their fate, and that of their country, lies in the hands of one man – Horatio Nelson.
For 200 years, Vice Admiral, the Right Honourable, the Viscount Nelson KB, has stood on his column in Trafalgar Square, watching the world and its many changes – good and bad.
But what happened to the “tars” who served with him? Through their eyes, and Nelson himself, we find out what it was really like at Trafalgar.
Nicholas Collett follows up his hit show Spitfire Solo with a spectacular feast of ocean-going action, surprise and song!

Mike Wojniak
Come and see Mike Wojniak on tour all the way from America.
Mike unique style has been shaped by artists such as Coldplay, Andrew Belle, Radiohead, Sleeping at Last and Bon Iver; however, while these influences are discernible, Wojniak’s airy melodies, auspicious lyrics, and intricate compositions don’t simply mirror the genre, they add to it. Many of Wojniak’s compositions have been inspired by his travels and the varied settings and characters he has encountered along the way. Having traveled to Europe, Central America and all over the United States composing and performing (and even teaching, as he did at Atelier Favela Nicaragua), Wojniak has steadily built a widespread, enthusiastic fan base.
His new EP, Anima Mundi, centered on the mutuality of nature and humankind, builds on Wojniak’s previous albums: Libero (2012), Memento Vivere (2010), and Follow the Crane (2008)—LPs that explore themes of the impermanence of life and love and the complexities of relationships and interdependence. His Tour dates in 2015 include Southwest and Pacific Northwest shows in the US and additional dates in Europe, Including Quatt

Henna and
pre Bollywood party
Come and join us on 4th September for Henna and fun preparations for Bollywood night on 5th ..... it'll be a little bit like a Mehendi ceremony.. Pre-wedding ceremony at a Traditional Indian wedding. This is where the bride’s hands and feet aredecorated with intricate patterns by the application of Henna. On a lighter note, it is believed that, deeper the color of the mehendi (henna) stronger is the groom’s love for the bride.
With foot tapping music and dances, this ‘ladies-only’ party lends a break from the otherwise more ritualistic ceremonies. When the bride goes to the groom’s house after the wedding, she is not expected to perform any housework until her mehendi has faded away. ..

Whalebone with special guests Kelley and Matt McRae This exclusive Whalebone concert featured the fantastic music of our talented Shropshire favourites and the Kelley and Matt McRae Kelley McRae grew up in Mississippi but called Brooklyn home for years before teaming up with guitarist Matt Castelein in 2011, when the duo traded in their NYC apartment for a VW camper van and hit the road full time. Thousands of miles and hundreds of shows later, they have toured coast to coast in the US, played to packed rooms across Europe, sold-out the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and continue to build a passionate and dedicated following on the strength of their live performances. Drawing comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch, the duo’s music is wide ranging - comprising haunting ballads, tender love songs, and energetic guitar driven songs full of hope. Paste Magazine’s 4 Star review raves “Kelley moves effortlessly from the mournful tones of the plantation to the celebratory swing of the saloon, from songs of loss and decay to hymns of love and grace.” Acclaimed film director Wim Wenders told the San Francisco Chronicle that Kelley’s songs move him to tears, and BBC Radio’s Bob Harris calls the songs ‘brilliant.’ Kelley’s music has been featured in numerous independent films, Lifetime’s Army Wives, MTV and commercials for American Airlines and Unicef. She has also taken the stage at major festivals such as the Riverbend Festival, Forecastle Music Festival, CMJ, and NXNE. |

Cookery Demonstration
Quatt Village Hall Committee would like to thank Lajina for a fantastic cookery demonstration. Everybody went home inspired and well fed after sampling the tasty dishes.
Masala Magic, created by Lajina who has a passion for good, healthy, tasty authentic home style Indian food, as eaten at home for many generations. She has created the same flavours with the reduction of fat, sugar and salt and was encouraged by my friends whilst out eating in an Indian restaurant to start my own business, they much preferred my style of home cooking than the dishes offered commercially.
The spices are lovingly prepared, roasted and ground before being carefully measured and packed into the pots to make perfectly spiced curries.

World Wars I and II
Commemoration
This year marked 100 years of the beginning of World War One and 70 years of World War Two. Help commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice in our name and defence.
A service was held at St. Andrews Church, Quatt, from 10.30am and included the 11am marking of the Armistice.
People paid their respects to those individuals who served from Quatt. After the service the Church bells rang in commemoration.
Teas and cake were available at Quatt Village Hall, alongside items from both wars, forming a display, which had been kindly lent to Quatt Village Hall by family of those who fought in the wars. There wasn't an entry fee but £75 of the money raised from the sale of teas and cakes will go to a lasting memorial for those men and women who built the Spitfire. This is being done in conjunction with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Any money raised above £75 will go to the Poppy Appeal.
If you couldn't make the event but would like to make a donation, you can do so using the PayPal button below.

Each Slow Dusk
by Rory Mullarkey
The Private misses the farm. The Captain dreams of painting. The Corporal relishes the fight. And a hundred years later, The Woman seeks to understand.
A startling new play about action, humanity, and the legacy of war. Each Slow Dusk charts the experiences of three young men serving on the western front, linking their stories to a woman today, just home to her village after a tour of the battlefields. You’ll never walk past a war memorial in the same way again.
Nationally acclaimed Pentabus Theatre Company present a forensic examination of the impact of war from the UK’s most exciting new playwright Rory Mullarkey, winner of the Harold Pinter and George Devine Awards.
‘Pentabus Theatre Company skillfully shatters any image of a sleepy, bucolic England.’ Art desk
'Stunning, powerful, emotive and emotional. beautifully performed, a must see.' Quatt Village Hall

The Osiligi Maasai Warriors
The Osiligi Maasai Warriors, a group of traditional performers from Kenya who regularly visit the UK in an effort to raise funds for their families and for improvement of their village back home.
The troupe performed their tribal song and dance and spread the word about their culture.
A fantastic display of music, dance and traditions enthralled the Quatt audience. ''The evening went too quickly'' was the phrase used by so many after the performance. People came from as far as the welsh border, one person even dashed over from Cardiff. Many thanks to Arts alive and especially to the Osigili Maasai Warriors.

Persian Cooking Demonstration
Saturday 6th September
A fantastic afternoon was had by all at Dr Lal Haider's Persian cookery demonstration.
Wonderful aromas filled the hall and taste buds were treated to some devine dishes.
Many thanks to Dr Lal and to those whom attended for making it a success fundraiser for The Epilepsy Society.
Chef
Dr Lal Haider is a former Shropshire surgeon who swapped his doctor’s coat for chef’s whites and in recent years has become renowned for his unique slant on Persian Cuisine, influenced by more Western Palates, but still with a definitive nod to his Persian/Iranian roots.
Self taught Chef Lal cooks from the heart – learning how to cook from his mother whilst studying for his medical degree. Since moving to Britain and becoming a highly qualified Doctor, he always had the passion to cook – This was realised in 2009 when he acquired the Country Friends Restaurant in Dorrington.
Enthusiastic
“There are not many people in life who get to do the thing they love for a living, and cooking has always been my passion. I am very enthusiastic about Persian cuisine and it’s been great fun these past few years to bring those flavours to Shropshire.”
“My cooking is dominated by simplicity and yet the results are amazing; to look at, to smell and to taste! It is full of pleasant surprises!”
In recent years Dr Lal has been as accredited as a chef, as he was a doctor.
Award finalists in the United Kingdom South Asian Chef of the Year 2011 and 2012,
and Shropshire Curry Chef of the Year 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Skittles Night
Saturday 22nd March
A fantastic night of fun and skill (ahem). Always a crowd pleaser, skittles night never fails to entertain, and brings people from all walks of life and ages together. The over all winner of the evening was Quatt's very own Nett Leach. For the men, Cecil Vernon put in an inspired performance but couldn't match Nett's over all score. And for the the under tens, Joshua from Kinver stormed it.
Many thanks to all of you who made it such a fab night.

Rich McMahon and Beyond Borders.
Saturday 22nd February
A fabulous nights entertainment performed by Rich McMahon and his sister Sam McMahon, brought a taste of Ireland to the Village Hall. Rich performed his own compositions interspersed with popular covers such as U2's 'Angel of Harlem' with beautiful harmonies from sister Sam. People travelled from far and wide, well... Birmingham, to catch a fantastic show. The performance encompassed popular music from down the ages and how it transcends borders. Rich was recommended by the wonderful Whalebone. We hope Rich, Sam and Maggie (Rich's partner) will join us again at the Village Hall in the not too distant future.
A few photos and a youtube clip of the fantastic evening.

Busy busy busy!
Quatt Village Hall has had an incredibly busy year and we would like to send a huge thank you to all our friends and supporters.
The new Meeting Room has successfully been completed and we would, in particular, like to express gratitude to John Haycox and MF Jones Electrical (and teams) for all their hard work and to Michael Massey for so kindly donating the carpet. This room is now available to hire (please contact booking secretary Jackie Cooley 781759 for details).
Thanks also to Quatt Malvern Parish Council, the Local Joint Committee, Howard Thompson Trust, the Millichope Fund and Ann Lee for providing assistance in the form of grant aid, new cutlery and a dishwasher!
The car park is shortly to be given a makeover and this work has kindly been supported by the National Trust.
The (Quatt) Sugar and Spice Girls have been busy fundraising at the Dudmaston Christmas Fair (thanks again NT) and Bridgnorth Christmas lights event, raising a grand total of £500 (ish). We couldn't do it without the chutney/ jam makers efforts and all those who have either donated produce or bought the goodies! Also thanks to Annys Devereaux for loaning the festive red gazebo.
Finishing 2013 on a high, we would like to thank the National Trust for our beautiful Christmas tree and Quatt Farm Shop, artist Brian Steventon and Brian and Kath Jervis from the Cider House for donations for our Christmas Grand Draw.
Looking forward to the New Year, we have lots of exciting events planned for 2014 and our resident Wednesday afternoon Art Group continues to be a success (new members always welcome) with a Photography club to be starting soon.
Quatt Village Hall would like to wish you all a healthy and prosperous New Year. Hope to see you in 2014!

Sugar and spice girls are a jamtastic hit
Jams and Chutneys ready to go
A crack team of jam and chutney makers from Quatt recently used their talents to raise funds for Quatt Village Hall.
As you can see from the picture the task was taken seriously. About 180 jars of produce were made to sell at Dudmaston Hall Craft Fayre and Bridgnorth Lights Switch on. Both events were a major success. Thanks to The Sugar and Spice Girls and to all who supported both ventures. All the money raised will go to the upgrading and upkeep of Quatt Village Hall.

Thanks to Jean Davies for the lovely knitted dolls. Thanks to Sam Perry for the tasty toffee apples and chocolate chip cookies. Thanks to Rita Vernon and Karen Barker who donated jams.
A big thank you goes to Annys Devereaux for the loan of the rather funky gazebo.
